About
My work centres around the relationship between the human body and landscape. Inspired by the theories of Maurice Merleau-Ponty, I investigate how our perception of landscape is influenced by our internal narrative. My work depicts the isolated cliff faces of the Scottish Highlands and Outer Hebrides, abstracting the subject matter by using my memory as a reference.

Dark cave openings, sharp vertical slates, and layered texture is displayed in my work through mark-making. Balancing the architectural and structured marks from fine liner, and the thick heavy marks of oil paint, I create compositions that are simultaneously close investigations of texture on the rocks’ surface, and depictions of the whole cliff face.
